What Is Delta 9?

Let’s discuss the most obvious question you may have! Seems reasonable! Some of you may not even know what Delta 9 is, and that’s OK! A lot of you are probably pretty sure you know what marijuana is, but maybe you’ve never even heard of Delta 9. Thanks to the 2019 Farm Bill, Delta 9 (and other cannabinoids) are getting a lot more hype. We’d like to help you learn the basics of what Delta 9 is and what it does.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is a cannabinoid, a chemical found in both marijuana and hemp. Delta 9 is the most abundant, well-known and well-studied form of THC, and it is attributed to the “buzzy” or intoxicated feeling associated with THC use. THC works by attaching to the body's cannabinoid receptors, which are found throughout the brain and nervous system. THC also activates the “reward center” in your brain to trigger the release of dopamine, which is the chemical messenger that tells your brain to give you feelings of pleasure, satisfaction and motivation. It’s that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you win a game or see a friend or hug your mama.

Legal Delta 9 products must be (1) hemp-based and (2) contain no more than 0.3% Delta 9 THC by dry weight.
